Story
Having said I’d never run another marathon and when mentioned to my best mate Dean, who said he could barely run a bath, here we are, training for the London Marathon with weekends of what seems like endless plodded miles and many sore bits as a reward.
The reason we are doing this is for the National Autistic Society, a charity very close to our hearts. My 10 year old Son Nelson was diagnosed with Autism when he was 4 years old and over the past 6 years Dean and his family have been very close to us sharing many holidays and family time together.
This meant they experienced the ‘behind the scenes’ challenges of living with Autism that sometimes aren’t seen when Nelson is out in every day life trying desperately to disguise his anxiety whilst coping with many of the things most kids take for granted. At the same time the Beckett’s also know what an amazing boy Nelson is with many super powers when it comes to memory, numbers and racing virtual cars on his driving sim!
We were lucky we could get help which ordinarily isn’t available for many families. This is where NAS provide an invaluable service which we are proud to be running for and thank you in advance for helping us raise money to help other families.
The National Autistic Society is a fantastic organisation that provides support, information, and services to individuals with autism and their families. By running the marathon for them, we want to help raise awareness and funds for their vital work and really appreciate your support.
Thank you in advance for your generosity, every pound really does help!
