Tasneem's Killer Mountain (Gilgit) + Worlds Longest Zip Line Challenge

Rush Peak Challenge (Gilgit-Baltistan) · 18 August 2019
Challenge added June 2019: (completed 6 July 2019, see below for update)
With my relocation to Dubai, UAE early in the year, it would
seem quite fitting to explore the regions tallest mountain: Jebel Jais before I head to Nanga Parbat and the Gilgit area. Jebel Jais stands 2,000 meters above sea level in the spectacular Hajar Mountain range east of Ras Al Khaimah.
This spectacular mountain is home to the world’s longest
zipline which I have decided to take on! At a distance of 15km, travelling at speeds of up to 150km per hour, at a height of 1,680 metres above sea level this will be a nice warm up to Killer Mountain!
With temperatures souring above 30c, the combination of
speed and thin air will make it challenging to inhale air.

January 2019
...and I am BACK for my 2019 challenge to support the charity so close to my heart: Imran Khan Cancer Appeal for the under privileged cancer patients in Pakistan.
So what do I have in store for this year?
Last year I successfully completed the Everest Base Camp Challenge in October 2018 and topped my fundraising target thanks to people like you who either donated or shared my story. I thank you again from the bottom of my heart if you have tuned in again to support me for the same cause this year.
Some heart wrenching facts: In 2019 there will be approx.180,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients in Pakistan of which approx 54,000 (30%) will not be treated due to unaffordability. My mission is to help provide cancer diagnosis and treatment to these patients. I will be doing this by returning to the Himalayas, but this time to Pakistan, my native home and home to where your funds make a difference for these underprivileged patients.
This years challenge will be a more daring one. See below for details and news articles for recent coverage on the 'Killer Mountain' that I will set foot on.
Challenge start date: 18th August 2019 (10 days)
Gilgit-Baltistan is home to Fairy Meadows, Nanga Parbat Mountain and Rush Lake. All of these locations will be en-route as I make my way to the final destination: Rush Peak at an altitude of 5098m (16,725 ft)
Nanga Parbat Base Camp (3967m/13,015ft): Known as the famous 'Killer Mountain', the worlds second most dangerous peak has claimed 31 lives before it was conquered in 1953. Nanga Parbat in Urdu means "Naked Mountain" since it's sides are too steep to allow snow to cover it. It forms the Western anchor of the Himalayan Range. This dangerous peak has been recently highlighted in the media with two tragic cases.
March 2019, claiming the lives of two climbers. Link to the article:

In February 2018 a climber had to abandon her climb and her husband to be rescued from this deadly mountain:

I am willing to put my life at risk just like the above climbers to help those in need.
Rush Lake: Is at an altitude of 4760m (15,715ft), and is located in the Nagar Valley below Rush Peak. At such a high altitude breathing will be challenging.
Rush Peak: Measuring at 5098m (16,725ft) above sea level, Rush peak is a mountain in the Karakoram Mountain Range of Central Asia, located in the Gilgit district of Northern Pakistan. It is unique vantage which affords spectacular views of nearby mountains like K2 and Meer Peak.
At the end of the 10 day challenge there will be a visit to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Lahore, the very first charitable hospital built by Imran Khan in memory of his late mother. I will have the opportunity to tour the facility and meet cancer survivors who are with us today all because of your generous donations. Photos from this journey will be shared in due course.
Thank you for visiting my page, sharing the page and most importantly for donating!
I will leave you with this quote:

For those of you who are new to my fundraising cause please see below why I choose to support this charity:
Supporting Imran Khan’s Cancer Appeal (IKCA) over the past
few years has given me the sense of satisfaction that I am somehow supporting cancer patients with their battle against cancer, something that we in the developed world take for granted with the NHS and Medical Insurers at our doorstep.
Since its establishment (IKCA) has spent in excess of £307 million on providing free cancer care in Pakistan. Last year, charity donations enabled:
10,654 admissions for new cancer patients
74,658 cancer related surgeries
655,074 radiotherapy treatments
387,158 chemotherapy treatments
Originally from the same province as Imran Khan, a fan of his cricket career and my move to the US state of Arizona with an abundance of mountain ranges, it seemed a like the perfect opportunity to take the charity so close to my heart to another level; to raise funds by conquering as many mountain challenges I can.
