Story
The Gore family & friends are doing the Marsden March again to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in memory of Martin Gore, our dad/uncle/brother/friend Martin, who died in January 2019. The usual walk from the Royal Marsden in Chelsea to the Royal Marsden in Sutton was due to take place on May 23rd, but has been cancelled due to the pandemic, with marchers asked to do their own walk instead. On May 15th, a group of us will walk from the Marsden, Chelsea, to Martin's tree in Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park (15 mile distance, route TBC!) Other family members will be walking on the same day in Scotland and LA. We would love to raise money for the charity to help it continue to do the kind of incredible work that he was an integral part of. From the Royal Marsden website... 'Martin was at the heart of The Royal Marsden’s life and work in research, treatment and the training of our next generation of oncologists. His contribution as Medical Director for 10 years, a Trustee of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and as a clinician is unparalleled.' More on the charity... The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
