Story
Throughout 2022, in memory of our beloved daughter Ella, who we sadly lost to acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in July 2021, we, along with family and friends, will be challenging ourselves to run, cycle and trek 3 major challenges to raise funds and awareness for the Ella Dawson Foundation. We are a small charity with a huge heart and an even bigger ambition to make a difference to lives of young adults with cancer and their families. ( www.elladawsonfoundation.org.uk)
Ella absolutely loved life! She believed passionately in the power of physical and mental wellbeing and resilience, in hope and positivity. Ella proved that, despite all that was happening to her through 2 years of constant aggressive cancer treatment, it was possible to live well, to be empowered and to live with great purpose despite cancer.
Ella’s inspires us to run, cycle and trek to places so special to her and we are so excited to be able to push ourselves to raise funds to support other young adults with cancer like Ella.
Jane, Kevin, Tasha, Connor and Lewis, along with our wonderful family and friends, are:
Cycling London to Paris – 14th – 17th July 2022 -Cycling 286 miles to Ella’s favourite city!
Running the Great North Run – 11th September 2022 in Newcastle where Ella met Connor and spent 4 incredibly happy years at Newcastle University. Having done the odd 10k many years ago, running the world’s most iconic half marathon is going to challenge all of us!
Trekking to Everest Base Camp – 10 - 17 November 2022. As a family we climbed so many mountains together and Ella visited our beloved Lake District during her illness. So we’ll be taking on the Everest Base Camp trek, to the foot of the tallest mountain in the world. We’ll be hiking the 80 miles over 12 days hiking up to 5,800 metres in altitude, right to the foot of the worlds highest mountain.
The whole family, and amazing friends, are training hard to complete all of these challenges to raise awareness of the Ella Dawson Foundation and funds to provide physical, emotional and wellbeing support to young adults with cancer and their families.
As a small charity, every penny really does count and we would be grateful for anything you are able to give.
As a family we are self funding our participation in each of these challenges and so every penny we raise gives to helping young adults with cancer.
