Story
In June 2021 our team will be undertaking our first ever skydive in support of Leukaemia Care, a fantastic charity who have helped and supported my amazing sister over the past two years during her incredibly tough battle with Leukaemia.
Ella, my 24 year old sister, was diagnosed with Ph+ ALL, a rare and aggressive blood cancer, in August 2019 while travelling in South America. Since that time, Ella has been under almost constant treatment, including over 70 rounds of Chemotherapy, 6 months of Immunotherapy, several rounds of radiotherapy followed by CAR-T therapy and a gruelling Stem Cell Transplant. Ella has also had to bear the last year of it on her own, being in hospital for months on end alone, attending fearful clinics, emergency admissions and receiving all results and treatments on her own due to COVID restrictions.
Leukaemia Care are an incredible active charity whom offer support, guidance, advice, campaigns and resources helping improve patients lives and supporting family and friends. Additionally, they have more recently been focused on improving the support for patients during the pandemic through their campaigns such as 'Hand to Hold', shielding support and to get patients support bubbles vaccinated.
Although this is such an intense and tough battle, Ella is a true inspiration and faces life with gratitude and the journey she is on with positivity, incredible resilience and humour. Whilst undergoing this difficult journey, Ella has worked tirelessly on the causes she supports. Ella has worked closely with Leukaemia care to help to raise awareness of blood cancer and its symptoms and also successfully launched her art studio (www.elladawsonartist.co.uk) where Ella donates a % of her art sales to blood cancer charities.
Our team are very excited to complete this skydive to shed light and awareness to Leukaemia and support the charity which is very close to our hearts. Our goal is to raise £450 each which brings our team fundraising total to £3150. We would be grateful for and thank any support given!
Thank you!
