For The Great Tyne Row MMXXII, race crews will mark the 1900th anniversary of Hadrian's Wall. The River Tyne played a major role in the history of the wall, with the Romans rowing people and goods from their forts at Arbeia (South Shields) and Segedunum (Wallsend) to Corbridge.
Rowers will fundraise for a charity that works with children and young people in our local communities - all whilst dressed as Romans! Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums rely on donations from individuals, trusts and businesses in order to provide local schools and families with arts, culture and heritage.
Children and young people who live in more marginalised areas of Tyneside face more challenges, however access to museum learning has been proven to help children improve their educational attainment.
With this is mind, The Great Tyne Row MMXXII will play its part as one of the region's events celebrating HW1900 and raise funds for a really good cause that provides life changing learning experiences.
