10 hour hikes x 5, no toilet, tough terrain, active volcanoes...This August, Tara Hikes Against Cancer

After researching cancer for the last 8 years I am now doing my first significant fundraising event for Cancer Research UK.  I joined the charity in 2010, why?

• They fund research into ALL types of cancer
• They fund everything that saves lives: surgery, radiotherapy, how to prevent cancer, science to find it early, helping doctors, pharmacists and you find it early to give us all the best chance of survival
• CRUK scientists look at how does cancer develop, why? and how can we turn that knowledge into saving lives
• They fund new drugs: drugs that are saving lives across the world now

I had the pleasure of working in the same teams that worked on abiraterone for prostate cancer, rucaparib to treat ovarian cancer and temozolamide for brain cancer.  Drugs approved and treating patients all over the world (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/funding-for-researchers/our-centre-for-drug-development/centre-for-drug-development-strategy-and-portfolio)

After losing a dear friend and my mother to cancer its time I did more.  Will you join me?
