Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 5 May this year my Dad suffered a major heart attack in the Maldives. He was eventually medevac'd back to the UK but one of his arteries was fully blocked and inoperable. Two weeks later, he suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest but thanks to the Lincolnshire Ambulance crew and the ICU at Lincoln Hospital he survived. He remained in hospital until he was able to have an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) fitted at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, who specialise in heart conditions. An ICD acts as a pacemaker to regulate his heart and a defibrillator to prevent him having another cardiac arrest. It is nearly three months now since his ICD was fitted and Dad is continuing his rehabilitation and taking part in weekly exercise classes hosted by a team of cardiac specialists.
I would like to raise some money as a way of saying thanks to everyone who helped save Dad's life and to help The British Heart Foundation towards reaching their goal of a world in which people do not die prematurely or suffer from heart disease. My Husband and I aim to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - the largest free-standing mountain in the world at 5895m, reaching the summit on 6th October 2016. I would be very grateful for any donation towards this worthy cause.
Many thanks, Tara xxx
