Story

UPDATE 14/02/2010:

The dive didn't happen yesterday due to the many clouds that hovered over the airfield and the snow it assaulted us with. However, it will be scheduled for a later date.

Thank you for all your donations.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Guys,

I'm doing a very awesome (and awesomely scary) skydive for the amazing charity Amnesty International and the money I raise will go to helping a woman in El Salvador find her two sisters who were captured by soldiers when they were just children. These girls were just two of more than 700 children ripped from their families.

I'm looking to raise as much money as I can, so if you can find it in your heart of hearts to donate as much as you can spare then it would be very much appreciated and it will all go to a good cause...and NOT to my next Disneyland trip, as any money raised here will go straight to the charity itself.

Reasons why you should sponsor me:

1.   This is the first (and may be the last) big thing I do for charity

2.   It really is a fantastic charity - my darling Sheryl picked it, and she is so passionate about the work this charity does and what it stands for that it has made me more determined to see this through.

3.   I am really, really scared about doing the dive, even though I know there is an instructor strapped to me and a parachute, I can't sleep over all the little things that might go wrong, like, what if the instructor is a bulb short of a picnic, what if there parachute doesn't work, what if the air is so thin that I can't breathe, what if we hit wires and my biggest fear ...what if I get sucked into the little engine thing on the wings. I mean, I don't mind the whole death thing if I'm doing something potentially lethal, but I'd like to be in one piece when I go...

But aside from all that (and I'm sure I'll be fine, I hope), please give as much as you can! Don't forget, and in the vagueist of post-Christmas spirit, in the words of Avenue Q - "When you give to a worthy cause, you'll feel as jolly as Santa Clause."

Much love to you all.

Tara
