Story
We're taking part in gruelling obstacle race Tough Mudder North West to support Sam from our payroll team, who is raising money in her husband Dean’s memory.

Sam’s Story
I lost my husband Dean suddenly, and very unexpectedly, on 20th May 2021 due to a collapsed aortic valve. He was 33 years old.
We had been together since we were 16 years old, and have three amazing little girls together.
Dean had previously battled with testicular cancer when he was 23 years old, and then prostate cancer from the age of 28. He was given the all-clear just 8 days before he died.
I was so fortunate to have my amazing family and friends help me over the last year. I also had so much support from the team at TAP that coming back to work didn’t feel impossible, helping me to deal with the many changes that me and my girls now face.
Why we’re fundraising
Dean would take any opportunity to help others, and was forever helping friends and family if they needed anything, so I know that he would want to raise money for this charity.
He would also find it incredibly funny to know what I’ve decided to do to raise it.
The idea of mud, water, and being cold literally fills me with utter dread, but knowing that he would take this challenge by the horns is only making me more determined to compete. This may be the only way I can actually beat him!
What we're doing to raise money.
After watching videos and reading more about Tough Mudder, it’s pretty clear that we won’t be able to avoid the mud! We’ll be working as a team to complete a number of very high and muddy obstacles, with lots of running (or dragging ourselves) in between.
