As many as 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss, yet those who experience it often feel completely alone. 

Tanya’s personal story:  I have had the heartbreaking experience of 3 losses, which left me with feelings of guilt, shame, failure and loneliness. When I finally reached a stage (with the support of Tommys) that I could talk about it, I had no idea how many people would truly understand what we had been through......

As a family: we have experienced a number of losses. Yet we have all done so without feeling able to talk to our nearest and dearest, and allow them to support us at such a difficult time. These losses span generations of our family including an elderly relative still unable to manage the grief of a loss so many years ago.  The Tommys Together for Change campaign encourages us to break the silence around baby loss, so that it is not a taboo subject and allow us to grieve for the loss in whichever way helps us as individuals. We don’t want anyone to suffer in silence. 

Not only does Tommys support grieving parents, it also funds the research that can save babies lives. 

We want to raise as many funds as possible to allow babies the best chance of survival. Having a baby is seen as a simple process. We want to help this to be true for as many families as possible so that they can experience the joy and happiness that our children bring to our lives. 

We will be doing this by running the London Landmarks half marathon together in March. Tanya then plans to run the London marathon in April. With the rest of the family cheering her on! 

We will be running to save the lives of babies and in memory of those we have lost.
