Story
Like pretty much everyone, growing up, I though Dementia was something that only affected *really* old people.
I couldn't be more wrong. Dementia is indiscriminate and cruel and, in its various guises, has the monstrous capacity to affect anyone of any age.
A very close member of our extended TC24 family opened my eyes to the harsh reality of early onset dementia and how it can devastate families. Their determination to raise both much needed funds and awareness inspired us all. So when the opportunity arose for us to raise funds for a charity that's close to our hearts, in one of the most beautiful places in Wales, it was a no-brainer.
One way raising funds can help is in the continued development of the Alzheimer's Soceity Drug Discovery programme. Succinctly, it takes about 20 years and millions of pounds to develop a new drug from scratch. The aim of the programme is to focus on 'drug repurposing' which takes drugs that are already being used to treat other conditions and tests their potential as a treatment for dementia.
