Story

Running the London Marathon this Sunday is a huge challenge and another chance to show support for a charity that is close to my heart.

My father, Mike, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer a few years back and thanks to early diagnosis and treatment - it's under control. And although he won't be running the marathon, I've decided to give it a go!

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. The Movember Foundation is working to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, and I want to help them get there.

What will I be doing?

Marathon Updates

Sunday 22nd April
- Run complete! Thank you to everyone who sponsored, supported and put up with me throughout the last few months. Sunday was an incredible day and I am so grateful to have received such support and to have been able to help the Movember Foundation.

Tuesday 17th April - A few days to go and a final push for fundraising! Icing various niggles but looking forward to what should be a memorable Sunday in the capital.

Friday 30th March - 20 miles in the can. Injury strikes at the end, but that's the longest run out of the way before marathon day.

Saturday 24th March - Longest run to date with 18.6 miles. Strangely enjoyable, but glad to have got the miles in!

Friday 16th March - Fundraising evening with Mark Alleyne, Paul Bodin & Nick Wood raises £1,523 - a huge boost towards reaching the target of £2,500. Thank you to all who came along!

Sunday 11th March - Longest run to date. 13.5 miles from Swindon to Fairford on the back roads. Views - beautiful, feet - sore.

Friday 6th March - One week to go until the fundraiser and around 50 tickets sold. Thanks for all the donations so far. 100km of running done with plenty still to go - 14 miles ahead this Sunday!

Tuesday 6th February - 11 miles done around the snowy streets of Swindon. Fundraising dinner launched too - 80 tickets to sell - but great speakers with Mark Alleyne, Paul Bodin and Nick Wood all giving up their time for the charity.

Sunday 28th January - Ran the longest distance so far, 9 miles, with Suzie (my sister) around the Harbourside in Bristol from Long Ashton. Feeling good - just have to pick up the miles.

Monday 15th January - Just returned from a three week honeymoon in New Zealand, which included a few 10k runs to help build up some fitness before the training kicks in!
