Story
The Tamworth Herald and its generous readers have successfully raised £20,757 in a campaign to ensure seriously-ill local people keep benefiting from specialist care and support at St Giles Hospice.
Jo’s Appeal launched in September 2011, with the target of raising enough funds to ensure Dosthill-based Staff Nurse Jo Pickering could tend to the needs of people living with cancer and other serious illnesses at the Compassus Centre in Whittington for an entire year.
Over 30 weeks, Herald readers contributed their time, effort and money towards making sure that people from their own community could receive high-quality care by helping Jo’s Appeal achieve its goal.
The Tamworth Herald regularly reported on fundraising events organised by readers for the appeal, including family fun days, music nights, quizzes, golf days and a recycling drive led by Smurfit Kappa.
St Giles Hospice would like to thank all the Herald readers who made Jo’s Appeal a success and for their on-going support.
