Story
Thank you for looking at our Just Giving page, Me (Tamsyn Radmall) and two of my friends: Michael Yelland-Brown and Juliet Radmall, are going on a trip to Uganda with the organisation Onelife to help with their project: Raising up Leaders. THE TRIP IMFORMATION IS FUTHER DOWN THIS PAGE. We have oranised a bike riding fund raiser, where we will be riding to the top 13 locations in london using the Barclay's bikes. However the challange is that we are going to ride for free so to achieve that you have to ride from dock station to dock station in less than 30 min, and we will also have to visit said locations!
We are using this page to raise funds for the Ugandan trip, therefore you are invited to either sponser the Bike ride or just donate directly towards the Mission Trip. We thank you so much for any contribution you are able to give! Blessings!!
Onelife Uganda Trip 2013
A brief overview of the trip
Over the past four years Onelife have hosted Young Leaders Conference (YLC) in Uganda. We have had an incredible time of resourcing and encouraging over 800 Ugandan pastors (not all young!). Our trips have included a number of visits to churches, hosting conferences and visiting a number of projects set up to support the people of Uganda, many of whom live in real poverty. It has proved to be a life-changing time for the teams who went with us, and as a result we have established ‘Just Onelife’, a Onelife initiative designed to give young leaders an experience of cross cultural mission and leadership, whilst exposing them to the issues of poverty and injustice that much of the world faces. This broadens the experience of young leaders from the UK and enables them to carry a heart for justice in their locality and future leadership.
This year we will be hosting a Young Leaders Conference in Mbale, Uganda. This will primarily work alongside the charity ‘Jenga’, run by Robbie Keen. We will also be working with young leaders in the Kasesse region (West Uganda), supported by the charity ‘African Dream’. Working with local charities will ensure that all we do is appropriate to the setting and ongoing work in that area, whilst Tearfund will be providing us with expertise and advice in making the most of taking teams to Uganda.
Conference Details
Mbale is a more built up area near Mt. Elgon. Jenga is a well established charity working on a number of projects (check out their website -www.jengauganda.org/). Our visit will include hosting the Onelife Conference in Mbale, visiting a variety of churches including the church that the Young Leaders Conference ’08 raised money to build, visiting a number of water projects, goat projects and street children’s groups, as well as spending time in the Namatala slum. We will aim to have a day or two off, and will make the most of seeing ‘The Pearl of Africa’ as Uganda is referred to!
How much will it cost?
The entire cost of the trip will be £1700.
To break down this cost approximately: flights will be in the region of £800. In country transport contribution £200. Tearfund training costs, risk management and full Insurance £130. Accommodation £300. Food £200; Administration and Onelife costs £70.
