Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From 1st November 2015 I will be starting a three month challenge to swim the equivalent of a marathon in my local swimming pool in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action. That's a total of 1688 lengths of a 25m pool! Whilst I won't be swimming the lengths all in one go, but over the three month period, I still feel this is a mighty challenge. This is in memory of my lovely Dad, Tom Quormby, who sadly died on 20th January 2010 after a short but horrendous battle with this grim disease.
Whilst I am not a strong swimmer, I am determined to take on this tough challenge in order to help raise funds for this small but passionate charity. The hardest part of this task may not be the actual swimming but finding the time to fit all the lengths in (and dragging my bum out of bed early in the morning, in winter, to get to the pool). But my hard work will all be worth it.
Pancreatic cancer is the UK' fifth biggest cancer killer with the lowest survival rate of all 21 common cancers. Pancreatic Cancer Action are determined to raise awareness of this silent killer and firmly believe that if we work towards earlier diagnosis the chances of survival through surgery will greatly increase.
In order to do this Pancreatic Cancer Action need as much help raising funds as possible. Please help me to help them by kindly donating to my marathon swim for survival. All donations, large and small, will be
very, very gratefully received.
Thank you,
Tamsyn
