RideLondon 2022 for the Spinal Injuries Assocation
Fundraising for Spinal Injuries Association
Fundraising for Spinal Injuries Association
On 29th May I'll be taking part in RideLondon and cycling 100miles to raise vital funds for the Spinal Injuries Assocation (SIA). There are around 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury (SCI) in the UK, and approximately 2,500 people sustain or acquire a spinal cord injury each year.
And one of those is my colleague Mike, a passionate cyclist and professional, whose life changed in a day when a very serious accident left him paralysed from just below the shoulders. After many, many months of remarkable fortitude Mike will be riding the 100 miles on a bike powered by his arms. He aims to be the first person to do the ride in consecutive years as able bodied (2019) and as disabled (2022). A truly remarkable challenge. His colleagues will be riding in support.
SIA has been supporting Mike as it supports so many SCI people and their families through their regional support coordinators, specialist SCI nurses, support line and counselling service, as well providing advocacy, CHC advice and campaigning for change. Please sponsor me, so that they can continue and expand this life changing work.
