The running continues, after running the York marathon for the RAF Benevolent fund I have decided to continue to fundraise for such an amazing charity. This year I am running the Virgin Money London Marathon, The Woodhall Spa 10k and The Great North Run. 

The York marathon was an incredibly difficult challange. The weather was dreadful and my husband was deployed on a flight 2 hours before the starting gun went off. Knowing he wasn’t going to be at the finish line or going to be with me and my children for the next 4 months made the challenge even more poinent. Those last 6 miles required a lot of determination but I got through and finished in 4:54. 

Completing the challenge gave me strength and helped me to mentally cope with our first extended period of separation. 

Knowing how running had helped me, I decided to gather a group of ladies who are all part of the RAF family and challenge them to run the Woodhall Spa 10k. 

I have been taking them from not having run since school through the couch to 5k programme and will be building on that until to the race in June. 

With this community effort we wish to raise awareness of the services provided by the RAF Benevolent Fund to serving and ex-RAF veterans and their families.
