Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have this condition myself and would like to raise as much funds as possible to go towards research and keeping the online forum going for sufferers & people who are newly diagnosed and need information & support that is not always available through the NHS. To help raise funds I will be taking part in the 'IIH UK 20 Week Weightloss Challenge' and am looking to raise £50 through sponsors/donations whilst losing weight at the same time!! So challenge me and donate today :) The challenge starts on 9th January 2012.
Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), is a neurological condition defined by increased intracranial pressure around the brain without the presence of tumour or disease. The space around the brain is filled with a water–like fluid (Cerebrospinal Fluid). If, due to a variety of factors the pressure around the brain rises then the space containing the fluid cannot expand. It is this excessively high pressure–called hypertension–that produces the symptoms of IIH. There is no cure for IIH, but IIH UK is supporting ongoing research. Current treatments for IIH come with many side effects and offer no guarantee of success. While IIH may not be a life threatening condition, it is certainly life changing.
