Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 4th October I am running 10k at Blenheim Palace in aid of The British Heart Foundation. This is a Charity which is literally 'close to my heart' as back in 2008 I developed Peripartum Cardiomyopathy after the birth of my youngest daughter, Eugenie. This is pregnancy induced Heart Failure, a rare and little understood condition which affects only about 20 women a year in the UK. It is a condition that comes with a frightening 50% death rate. For the women that do survive, their health is often affected for the rest of their lives, with a heart transplant being a highly probable outcome, and future pregnancies an impossibility.
The rarity of this condition, means that Medical Staff and importantly Community Midwives, do not necessarily recognise symptoms. Speedy diagnosis is crucial if mortality and recovery rates are to be improved.
I consider myself to be extremely lucky and nearly 7 years on I have made a full and complete recovery. 😄 So do please please support me in helping to raise money for The British Heart Foundation who fund vital research into conditions such as this - more research is needed to raise awareness, develop a greater comprehension of the condition, prevention and treatments to deliver better outcomes. Thank you
