Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) - GOSHCC Royal Parks Half Marathon 2012 · 7 October 2012 ·
I also ran for Teddy last year as he sadly passed away last June at only 11 months old, after a courageous battle with a rare genetic condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.
SMA is a condition that affects the nerves and motor neurons in the spinal cord. Although Teddy’s brain was unaffected (as you can see from his smiles in the photos), his muscles, including those used to swallow and to breath became increasingly weak and in the advanced stages it was hard for him to move except hold a finger of his parents.
I am raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital which supported and helped Carmel, Neil and Teddy greatly during his illness. I would really appreciate your support for this very worthy cause.
