This summer, myself and several medical students will be travelling to rural Sylhet, Bangladesh with Selfless, a charity that aims to improve access to healthcare for all.
Over 60% of Bangladesh has no access to healthcare, despite it being one of the most densely populated countries in the world. In the UK, there are 9 maternal deaths for every 100,000 live births. In Bangladesh, the maternal mortality ratio is 20 times higher: there are 176 maternal deaths for every 100,000 live births.
With the support of local doctors, we will be setting up health camps and providing free antenatal and family healthcare to those most in need.
Your valued contributions will go towards the running of these free health camps and antenatal clinics, as well as providing treatment to the patients we will see on our trip.
