Story
On the 15th October I will be abseiling down the Forth Rail
Bridge – a structure that stands taller than Big Ben! And I will be doing it dressed as cat woman (what else!).
I have been a volunteer for the Lanarkshire Branch of the Cats Protection for over 12 years. This charity means the world to me.
The Cats Protection is a UK charity dedicated to rescuing
and rehoming stray, unwanted or homeless cats. The Lanarkshire branch is run entirely by a team of very dedicated volunteers.
Every year the Lanarkshire Cats Protection provides over 300 unwanted cats and kittens with a clean and safe place to stay, warm bedding, attentive carers, regular meals, medical attention and much more. The branch relies on the wonderful team of fosterers to take these needy cats and kittens into their homes and purposely-built cat cabins.
As a volunteer run branch, all the money raised will help pay for the food and veterinary treatment of the cats and kittens in care. As an active volunteer I know every penny counts so anything you can sponsor will help so much and is greatly appreciated.
My aim is to raise £1,000 because that will cover around 1 month of vets bills. It costs around £50,000 per year to keep the branch running and so much of that has to come from our
fundraising.
A donation of ...
**£5 could supply 10 days worth of specialist milk to hand-feed an orphaned kitten
**£10 could provide a traumatised cat with bedding and a safe place to sleep.
**£20 could feed a cat for over a month.
**£30 could pay for a cat to be neutered.
**£50 could vaccinate a kitten against flu viruses, enteritis, leukaemia and other serious diseases.
**£100 could provide a bed, toys, food and medical care for a cat in care.
As a life-long cat owner, my passion for the Cats Protection
began, when in 1996, Holly, then a little furry bundle, changed my life. From that moment, we were inseparable.
Holly filled my life with more happiness, love and compassion than I have ever known. She was adored by all her knew her. She was the love of my life, my best friend and my rock. She passed away in my arms after a short illness on 17th September 2012 at the age of 16. There are no words to express how much I miss her.
I have set up a legacy for her within the Lanarkshire branch of the Cats Protection by sponsoring a cat cabin in her memory now known as Holly’s House. This pen is sponsored in her memory to help ensure that little kitties have a warm bed, food and are given the best possible care before going to their forever home. All cats and kittens deserve to be as loved and as cared for as Holly. Lanarkshire Cats Protection will give them the best possible chance of this.
Thank you for your support.
Lots of love, (a very nervous!) Tamara xxx
