Story
A small team of Talking Cherries are ‘Stepping Up' to complete at least 1,000,000 steps before Christmas to help Dorset's mental health.
The challenge starts on 1st November and runs for 50 days until 21st December - that's an average of 20,000 steps per day!
Talking Cherries is a fan led Mental Health initiative aiming to create a no pressure non judgemental relaxed environment to #tacklethesilence around #mentalhealth.
This is the first of many initiatives we hope to undertake together as fans to support those who have services that support us if and when we need it.
We hope to finish our challenge with a “Walk and Talk” get together for fans (in groups of 6 and socially distanced in the open air) on Sunday Dec 20th from Kings Park down to the coast. Naturally this is subject to the current predicament we are living through.
Local charity Dorset Mind are raising funds through this initiative to specifically develop and support men's mental health which is one of many aspects of mental health we Talking Cherries want to raise awareness for and support..
Not only that, exercise is proven to positively impact wellbeing and at this time of year with the dark months approaching, its even more important to connect with other people and get active. Even if you can’t always do it in person we can do it together to help reach our objectives. Isn’t that what support is?
Waking and Talking is great for the mind on many levels and we will keep you updated as best we can.
