Story
Takeover Radio is participating in the annual Swimathon, aiming to raise as much as possible for the fight against cancer! Our team members consist of budding radio presenters and media pioneers, who are aiming to achieve a massive feat by swimming the team 5km challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.
We at Takeover have a burning passion for charity and some of our team members have participated in the annual swimathon once or twice before. Last year they managed to raise over £300, and this year we are hoping to further our achievements by raising £500!!
Our volunteer swimmers are;
- Bethany Harris - Under 16 trainee Radio Presenter
- Josh Polato - Trainee Radio Presenter
- Tom Hanstock - Youth Presenter
- Phil Riley - Funding Officer
- Joe Riley - Takeover Photography
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, will be involved in Swimathon for the first time.
This challenge is especially important and personal for us at Takeover Radio as very recently our founder and managing director lost his long term battle with cancer. He inspired so many and taught countless young trainee presenters in radio and media, introducing them and also setting them on their path in their careers.
Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and their families, has been Swimathons charity partner ten times since it launched in 1986 and has raised over £17 million for the charity through the event during that time.
By supporting our participation in the world’s biggest fundraising swimming event you will be part of fundraising for two incredible causes.
Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated and we hope to see you at the event!
