Story
To mark the finale of this year's six nations, I'm taking on a new challenge-completing a 450-mile route up the "Spine of Britain" to raise money for life-changing research into paralysis.
Every 4 hours someone in the UK suffers a spinal cord injury (SCI) that changes their lives forever.
There are some really promising research projects taking place in humans now and we could be at the point where real treatments are available to help improve movement and sensation after paralysis.
The biggest barrier now is funding.
Spinal Research are the U.K.'s leading charity funding medical research into spinal cord injury. Without government funding their work is dependent upon the generosity of supporters like you.
To give you some perspective this is my itinerary:
Sat 11th - 61 miles Twickenham - Harlequins - London Irish - Slough - Maidenhead -Oxford Uni - Bicester
Sun 12th - 53 miles Bicester - Brackley (Mercedes F1) - Towcester - Northampton Saints - Rugby School
Mon 13th 58 Rugby School - Leicester Tigers - Loughborough Uni - Nottingham Rugby
Tues 14th - 81 miles Nottingham Rugby - Mansfield - Rotherham Titans - Wakefield Trinity - Castleford Tigers - Leeds Rhinos
Weds 15th - 77 miles Leeds Rhinos - Harrogate - Ripon - Darlington - Durham Uni
Thurs 16th - 53 miles Durham Uni - Newcastle Falcons - Alnwick
Fri 17th - 77 miles Alnwick - Dalkeith
Sat 18th - 9 miles Dalkeith - Murrayfield
I am asking people to 'buy me a beer' by donating the cost of one beer.
Many thanks in advance.
