Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Brandon Foster , a serving soldier apart of 7 Para RHA former soldier 29 Commando RA
On 9th April 1997 my family lost a key member , my older brother Thomas.
Thomas was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs disease at a young age.
Tay-Sachs disease is a rare inherited condition that mainly affects babies and young children. It stops the nerves working properly and is usually fatal with still no known cure.
My family and Thomas spent majority of his life in and out of hospital and received a huge amount of support from Children's Hospice South West in particular Little Bridge House, where Thomas life was made as easy as possible.
CHSW are not funded , each year they have to raise approximately £9.8 million themselves to continue with the 24/7 365 days a year care for all the families they cater, And what a amazing job they do ,not only for the child but for the entire family be parents siblings etc the hospices care and have thought of everything for everyone! This includes respite for the whole family , a sibling service for brothers and sisters, emergency support, end of life care and a bereavement service for as long as is needed!!!!
Nothing can compare to the support we received from Children's Hospice South West and Little Bridge House therefore I would like to give something back.
In August 2019 I will be conducting a loaded march (Tab/Yomp) carrying a 40 LBS Bergen (Military rucksack) from Charlton Farm, Bristol to Little Bridge House, Barnstable a total distance of 88 miles within 2 1/2 days.
My aim is to raise as much funds as I possibly can as a massive give back to Children's Hospice South West, for all the hard work they have done and are still doing for children who need It most.
Thank you for taking the time for reading my page.
Best wishes
Brandon
