Story
We are Hannah and Kerenza, two year 9 girls who think it’s unfair that our school has 9 separate toilet blocks, with multiple cubicles in each, while in many developing countries, there is not even a tap in every village, let alone a toilet in a school. This is why we want to raise money, for the charity toilet twinning, to build toilet blocks in schools in countries such as Malawi and Uganda.
Six kilometres is the average distance women and children have to walk everyday to collect water, and they normally collect about 20L, so we have decided that everyday in June, at 7am, we will walk their 6km, in our respective villages, carrying a 10-15kg load for half of it.
All of the money will go to the charity 'Toilet Twinning', who will use it to build toilets in countries that need them.
Before lockdown, we raised over a hundred pounds in a school bake sale, but are hoping that people from the wider public will donate as we go ‘Trotting4Toilets’.
