For a few years now, I have been thinking about how I could make a difference by actively taking part in helping those in need. When I came across Winter Walk for Gaza, it was a great opportunity that I felt I shouldn’t miss. As a mother of two, I have had first hand experience of difficulties in pregnancy before and after birth. However, in developed countries we have access to good medical care.

Every child deserves to have a healthy start in life.But in Gaza, the violent conflict and ongoing blockade means that newborns and children do not have the access to the medical care they desperately need, costing them their lives!

Globally, maternal and infant mortality rates are falling, but in Gaza, the number of deaths has begun to rise in recent years. Gaza has an infant mortality rate of 21.3 per 1000 live births! 

Myself, Hafsah and Shabana will brave the cold and take on the 5 mile challenge held by Muslim Hands. Muslim Hands are fundraising to train over 100 staff working at Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in six hospitals in Gaza to better equip them to reduce the infant mortality rate in Gaza. This training will improve medical care and ultimately save lives! To support the cause, donate!
