Hi all! Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 25th September 2022, I will be taking part in a charity walk in Luton to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. In September 2021, I walked for two very special people, Amani Liaquat and Tom Parker. Sadly, I will be walking in Amani & Tom’s memory this year as neither of them are with us anymore. Earlier this year, within the space of 5 weeks, Amani & Tom both unfortunately departed this world after being members of the GBM club (a club no one wants to be a part of.) Both Amani & Tom did everything they could do raise awareness and campaign for change although this wasn’t enough. They were both the epitome of strength and hope and I learnt so much from them. They left us too soon and the world is a dark place without their light. But I, along with their loved ones, will continue their fight. We will raise awareness and funds in a bid for positive change.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Despite this, treatments for brain cancers in the UK hasn’t changed in decades. Current NHS treatments are ineffectual and not curative. Families are forced to raise funds privately to fund private treatments outside of the UK. This needs to change but Government investment into brain cancer research is inadequate. At the current rate of spend it will take 100years to find a cure! But how many more lives will be lost while we wait for a cure? Brain cancer patients don't have a lot of time on their hands.
The least we can do as a community is unite and raise funds for research and hopefully better treatments in the future so less (ideally, NO) families have to lose their loved ones to this horrible illness. Please consider donating and sharing.
Thank you so much. Tania x
