After five years of relentless violence in Syria, children continue to suffer, their lives, home and families have been torn apart
The horrific scenes that we've been seeing from Aleppo show the extent of the violence that millions of Syrian children are living through. Inside Syria, where 6.6 million people are displaced, children are suffering dire conditions and live in near-constant fear. For families who flee the country in search of safety, the vast majority end up in neighbouring countries where food can be scarce, education limited, and risks to children’s wellbeing rife.
Despite the challenges, Save the Children has reached over 3.8 million people across the region including over 2.4 million children. We are providing food, supporting hospitals and schools to keep running and offering specialist emotional support to children. However, with no resolution on the horizon and the situation for children deteriorating on a daily basis, the need to support Syrian families grows.
