Lyndsay, Chloe and I have finally lost the few marbles we had left. On July 6th we will be swimming the Bantham Swoosh - a chilly, 6km swim down a sandy-bottomed estuary in Devon. One of us is aiming for a record time, one of us wants to swim further than ever before and one of us is endurance testing new arm bands. We'll leave you to work out who's who.
We're undertaking this challenge to raise money for an amazing charity called Level Water. They provide one-to-one swimming lessons for disabled children. This tailored coaching gets them to a point where they can join mainstream classes and go on to play safely in water, take part in watersports or perhaps even swim in the Paralympics!
Such a simple thing to do but of course, it's not just about learning to swim. Gaining independence in the water helps each child develop confidence, self-esteem and resilience. Precious boosters that will empower them in all aspects of their lives.
So if you like us, want every child to be safe in the water and experience the true joy of swimming, please give what you can.
In return for your donation, you'll be spared live footage of us squeezing into wetsuits (think YouTube ‘how to make sausages at home’) but you might just get a glimpse of our sandy bottoms.
In all seriousness, we'd be so grateful if you could spare a few pounds to support Level Water and inspire us to complete what feels like an immense challenge.
Thank you.
