Story
The past year has been tough for everyone but coronavirus has hit people affected by dementia the hardest and continues to disrupt lives. So that's why I'm making a splash and taking on Swim for Dementia.
My colleague, Emily and I, are doing this will full support from our co-founders at Haelu. As a company that builds software solutions to support health and social care, we spend a lot of our time engaging with those who are on the front line, caring for and supporting those with long-term conditions like dementia.
While family, friends, and care providers do all they can, it's organisations like the Alzheimer's society that are researching into care and cure, providing support and training, and campaigning for the rights of people living with dementia.
This is why Emily and I will be supporting each other throughout the 30 days. Swimming together and trying to keep up the momentum for this cause.
We will be sharing our progress on Linkedin, Twitter, and Facebook. Please give us a share or a retweet and let's do what we can to support this really important charity. See below what is done with the funds raised.
£300 means over 1,800 people can access Talking Point, our online forum. Here people can learn from each other's experiences, share their frustrations and their knowledge of local services.
£95 provides a telephone-based Dementia Adviser for a full day. Providing essential support to those affected by dementia
- £15 turns four ordinary citizens into superhero Dementia Friends! There is a stigma attached to living with dementia and Dementia Friends facilitates societal change, helping people understand the impact on people’s lives
