Story
Hi there! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! Wondering why I decided to take part in Swimathon?
I learnt to how to swim when I was 5. It happened in the most beautiful place to do it - Polish Mazurian Lakes. When I had realised I didn't need water wings anymore, I secretly swam beyond the buoy further and further ignoring my mom shouting at me from the coast (I was that rebel. And all these years later, I think that I still am...) Since then swimming have become my favourite sport and I have been regularly practising it for over 20 years.
Lately I became a couch potato and I have realised that need additional motivation to force myself to come back to a swimming pool. And here I am! What could be greater than doing what you love and doing it for a good reason?
Swimathon 2017 is supporting Marie Curie (don't forget! she was Polish!), a charity providing care and support to people living with a terminal illness at the end of their lives. The donations made to this page will help Marie Curie to care for more people across the UK living with any terminal illness, and their families, at the time when they need it most.
So if you believe I can change the world a little bit (and not drown at the same time) please donate pound or two.
Because you can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water!
