From Paris to Berlin

Berlin Marathon 2022 · 25 September 2022 ·
Brain Tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer, yet receive less than 2% of cancer funding. Average survival is 12-18 months.
After being diagnosed with incurable brain cancer in 2017, I’ve had two brain surgeries resulting in 50% vision loss, 30 rounds of radiotherapy and 4 rounds of chemo in an effort to stay alive. It’s worked so far but one day we’ll be out of options. As my scientific skills peaked at the school Bunsen burner, and media plans don’t cure cancer, I’m going to do the one thing I’m quite good at - putting one foot in front of the other, slowly, for a long time.
I’m running Paris marathon in a few short weeks. I’m under trained and overwhelmed, so when The Brain Tumour Charity asked if I’d also like to run Berlin marathon in September 2022 I naturally said ‘sure’
Did you know it’s 1,000 km between the start of Paris marathon and the finish line of Berlin? Seems doable. (I can hear my oncologist rolling his eyes from here)
So, now I have to run 2 marathons and 1,000km whilst trying to stay alive.
