Story
My beloved husband, Swee Kuang Quek, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly from heart failure while on holiday in Phuket, Thailand on February 13th 2013. Having suffered and fully recovered from a heart attack in December 2008 he was aware of his heart condition and had recently undergone tests and a full check-up. Despite being cleared by the doctors and cardiologist we were tragically shocked by his passing so soon afterwards.
The doctors believe that his death was due to a dissecting aortic aneurysm, a relatively rare condition with a very high mortality rate and which is difficult to detect prior to its occurrence. We would like to raise money for the British Heart Foundation to support research into this and other heart conditions so that such tragedies can be avoided in the future.
Swee took a very active role in the lives and upbringing of his three eldest grandchildren, Amber, Hugo and Max to whom he was more affectionately known as 'Kong Kong' and spent as much time as he could with his younger grandchildren, Sam, Marianne and Elise. He will be sorely missed by all of them.
His sudden passing has broken my heart and the hearts of our children, Andrea, Calvin and Gillian. His kind, generous and gentle spirit will be remembered by us, his family and his friends for as long as we live.
Please do give generously to this cause and give hope to the sufferers of heart conditions and their families.
May Quek
