Mel’s Story

My Dad was diagnosed on Friday 13 September 2013 with Multiple Myeloma (Stage III) during a quite dramatic 3 ½ week stint in hospital.

Sadly the Myeloma was so aggressive he did not reach the 5 years that he was expected to live, and passed away at St Margarets Hospice on the 30th April 2014. 

Unlike many other cancers, myeloma can affect the body in several ways. Most of the medical problems related to myeloma are caused by the build-up of the abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow and the presence of the paraprotein in the blood or in the urine.

I am running to raise more awareness for MM because of my Dad. I am also running in memory of my Uncle Mike and my Granddad.
