South West Coastal Path Cancer Awareness Walk For Macmillan

South West Coastal Path Cancer Awareness Walk · 16 July 2022
Four years ago, my world was turned upside down. When I found out, my little sister, Lucy, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 23.
Lucy currently has two rare types; she's had three surgeries and three courses of Radioiodine treatment with a fourth soon. Today, Lucy has a 1/3 chance of being cancer-free.
Over the past few years, we've lost several family and friends to cancer.
Imagine being in Lucy's shoes and not knowing if you're next.
Covid bought a new wave of challenges for cancer patients. Not only were many people not able to get screening, but treatments and surgeries have also been delayed and even cancelled.
The psychological hardship they've had to suffer through due to Covid has been immense. Isolating for months at end, unable to see friends or family, terrified that they might catch the virus.
Over the years, Lucy and I talked a lot about how we could help other people in similar situations to her. We always talked about doing something big together to make a difference and make it count.
Lucy might never be able to do something on the scale we were thinking. And it's all down to cancer's severe impact, plus the operations and the treatments had on her body.
So as her big brother, I'm stepping up, quite literally. To raise money for two charities that make an extraordinary impact on the lives of cancer patients.
Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
Between 16th July and the 28th August 2022, I will be doing the hardest challenge I've ever set myself. To walk in one go 630 miles around the southwest coastal path. It will take about six weeks to fully complete.
I'd love to raise £11,042 for these charities; if you can donate.
Times are hard, so I understand if donating is impossible. However small, do something else, like share this post, spread the word, leave a comment, join me on the walk, and even fill up my water bottle. It all makes a difference.
Thanks for your time, and Lucy and I appreciate your support.
