Story
So Kat is doing an absolutely awesome job training in this wintery weather! Only a couple of weeks until the big day! Please show your support by sponsoring her! Very sadly, I will not be running this year due to injury - but will be back next year to do the training all over again!! Thanks to all the support up until now and GOOD LUCK KAT!!!
---
Some time in April last year we decided to do our first 10k and had SO MUCH FUN with all that lovely training that we thought ‘Eh, how hard could training for a marathon actually be…?!’
So, being foolish, foolish people, we registered. Nine months later, here we are, mid-way through a rather scary training programme which will (hopefully) end with us crossing the finish line of the Virgin London Marathon on 21April 2013!
We’re running in aid of LOOK UK, a fantastic charity that, without any doubt, makes the effort of all the training very worthwhile. (It’d have to be a worthwhile cause to have us out of bed at 5.45am several times a week and running 10 miles in the snow after all!)
LOOK UK are a small but national charity who work to improve the lives of visually impaired children and their families by creating opportunities for them to meet, providing useful and relevant information and improving their chances of fulfilling their potential.
By running the marathon we hope to make a real difference to the lives of families affected, and your kind donations will help to make that possible.
Thank you for your support!
Progress so far:
The fear has definitely set in, and training is off to a good start and we’ve registered for some races in the lead up to the big day to provide some additional motivation/generally scare ourselves –
- 16 February: Race Your Pace Half Marathon – Eton Dorney
- 24 March: Whole Foods Market Breakfast Run – 16 miles – Kingston
Harriet also completed the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest 10k obstacle course in November (because she is absolutely nuts!) – we’re both hoping to encounter considerably less mud in all future races…
If you want to come and watch/support/laugh at either of the above events, or indeed the London marathon itself, friendly smiling faces in the crowd will always be very much appreciated!
Thanks again for visiting our page and supporting us in our efforts. We know everybody always says this, but every little really does help – every single pound that is donated will go towards improving the lives of visually impaired children around the country.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
