Story
The annual SW Charity Cycle Ride has become a real highlight in the firms calendar and after postponing last year's ride the team are itching to get back in the saddle! Over the last 14 years, the rides have involved a total 240 SW participants, cycling routes totalling over 2,500 miles and raising over £43,500 for various worthy causes in the process!!
This year the ride will be a little bit different than the previous A-B routes we've undertaken and will see the team of 25 riders completing two rides from a temporary base in Buxton, Derbyshire.
Those of you familiar with that part of the UK will know it's going to be impossible to avoid a lot of uphill sections and across the two 65 mile rides the teams will complete an impressive 9,000ft of climbing, that's just over the equivalent of going up Ben Nevis twice!
The 2021 SW Team comprises Stuart Avery, Simon Heather, Daniel Lever, Josh Peacock, Ben Bushill, James Hobkirk, Matthew Clarke, Richard Dunn, Gemma Watson, Ben Costigan, Dan Pugh, Cameron Hampson, Adam Marshall, Liz McLoughlin, Louie Lee-Overton, Marcus Acock, Alastair Mcleod, Nick Vincent, David Murray, Ben Hartley, Nick Heap and Kodie Brook.
This year the SW team are proud to be supporting Sue Ryder, and in particular the Manorlands Hospice in West Yorkshire, after the incredibly sad passing of Sanderson Weatherall colleague David Chary last year. Manorlands Hospice looked after David and his family so well in his final weeks and continue to help people with life-limiting conditions to live the best they possibly can. The fantastic staff support people through the most difficult times of their lives, with expert care and compassion from doctors, Sue Ryder Nurses and carers.
