Last summer my doctor put it very bluntly: "Sven, you will likely die within 5-10 years either of hearth failure or kidney failure. You need to start exercising."

I promptly reminded him I'm a keen golfer, walking a lot. He laughed me to the moon and back. And me with him, as I instinctively understood what he meant: I need to extensively train my heart.

This means lots of interval training, and where can you find the best time and place doing that? Biking in rush-hour in London: GO GO GO at the green light! 🚦Stop at the next red light. Waaaaait for it... GO GO GO!

And that's how I took up cycling 🚴‍♂️ . After I got in front of my own (and relatively easily addressed) situation, I now wanted to take up the cause: This year I'm joining thousands of others on June 18th (Father's Day), all cycling the 54-mile epic city to coast route from London to Brighton for the BHF. The BHF fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. Stuff that I can die from but(!) not to worry friends: as I've got in front of the situation I will be spreading joy in your lives for many years to come 😁😅😆

But I'm not doing it alone: I've assembled a team of 22 people from all over the world: Norway 🇳🇴, USA 🇺🇸, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, India 🇮🇳, Ireland 🇮🇪, Greece 🇬🇷, Switzerland 🇨🇭, and possibly some more. We're riding under the stellar name of "Pedal Fanatics".

I do ask you to sponsor me on this ride though as I do wish to contribute to their research. Every donation helps fund the next scientific breakthrough.

Finally, my employer will generously match the contributions made up to a point: every donation you make will therefore be doubled so **please** do help out.

Please support my journey fundraising for the BHF and help turn science fiction into reality. After the event the team will have a little event (read: drinks) so let us know if you want to join in. Would be great to have you amongst us 👍🚴‍♂️
