Story
Hi Everybody
In March 2009 I will be travelling to Nepal to trek to the Mount Everest Base Camp & I am taking this opportunity to raise money for Children’s Hospices UK, a national charity that gives support to a network of hospices across the UK. I must stress that I am funding the trip entirely by myself & all donations made will go directly to the charity.
The trek to the Everest Base Camp from Lukla involves hiking 92Km through the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas to a maximum altitude of 5545m at Kala Patar (the Everest summit is 8848m). Temperatures at Base Camp in March are around minus 10 degrees Centigrade so I am expecting it to be tough & am already training hard.
I have put a lot of thought into which charity to support & I believe Children’s Hospices UK is a worthy cause. They have shown me great support & appreciation for this event & to find out more about the charity’s work you can visit http://www.childhospice.org.uk/.
Thank you for your time & please show your support for this challenge in any way you can. Justgiving is a totally secure method of sponsoring me & if you’re a UK taxpayer, 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, is added to your donation. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated by myself and, more importantly, by the people who will benefit.
If you have any questions or would prefer to sponsor me offline, please contact me at suzy_rilley@hotmail.com.
