The yearly HD5K run is back in Hyde Park on 19 May 2022. Whether you are an elite runner or a weekend jogger, this 5km run is all about fun, fundraising and help raise awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Story

First organised by Hayes Davidson in 2018 in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), the yearly HD5K charity run also honours the memory of Alan Davidson who founded Hayes Davidson and who was diagnosed with MND in 2012. Alan died aged 58 in August 2018 and was present at the inaugural run in Hyde Park in May 2018. Motor neurone disease describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from these nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste. It is a cruel and terminal illness that decimates the mobility, communication and respiratory functions, leaving families and loved ones helpless in its wake. There is no treatment and no cure yet. Thank you for supporting me with this worthy and important cause, together we will beat MND.
