Story
On 9th September, I am going to don some highly unflattering lyrca and hit the road with some 10,000 other cyclists for the Freshnlo Pedal for Scotland annual bike ride between Glasgow and Edinburgh, all 47 miles of it, most probably in the rain.
But most importantly, I'm doing it all in the name of a brilliant cause.
Maggie's Centres are dotted all over Scotland and provide a sanctuary of calmness for those undergoing cancer treatment. They've been set up to provide refuge for people looking for a warm, friendly and informal atmosphere and somewhere to relax and have a chat and a cup of tea. Maggie's are unique in their approach in providing practical advice and making cancer more manageable and less daunting for those affected.
Maggie's are the Charity Partner for this year's event and in the past three years, Pedal for Scotland has raised almost £500,000, allowing Maggie's to continue with their brilliant work, including maintaining and running Maggie's centres including the new Maggie's Gartnavel Centre in Glasgow.
So, as I embark on my tough training schedule so as I don't keel over at the two mile mark, I would be so chuffed if you could donate even a few pennies to the cause, any donation would be appreciated! I'll try and keep you all posted on my progress, hopefully minus pulled hamstrings and other such things!
