I have just taken an exciting new role as a family case worker for the cancercares young peoples bereavement peer support group .
I’m working with young people age 11-16 who have been effected by the death of a very close family member by cancer or another life limiting illness .
We facilitate peer support groups across the region to help young people living with bereavement not only receive support but give it to others .
This reduces feelings of isolation but also let’s them know they are not alone .
We do super cool activities such as residentials , swimming , singing etc but I’m specifically raising funds to allow these young people to learn to bake and cook . So these funds will be for cooking equipment. We have a lovely new kitchen but are missing vital white goods , specialised equipment and electrical items such as blenders but also lacking basic equipment such as knives and boards .
Our young people are cooking crazy so we’d love to be able to support them more !
The refresh support group enables young people to grow with grief and not be held back by it.
