Story
At the end of April this year it'll be 5 years since I was diagnosed and began treatment for breast cancer.
Being treated at The Christie is the hospital that no-one wants to go to, but quite simply they saved my life and continue to keep me going now.
A lot has changed in my life over the last five years - much more has been gained than has been lost. But I wanted to mark the occasion by challenging myself both physically and mentally, and as my knees really don't like running anymore I thought I'd get on my bike instead.
I'll be cycling 106 miles over two days, from our home in Cheshire to our home in the Lake District. It's no easy ride - the climb up to Shap summit isn't something I'm relishing and I'm not quite sure how my bum will cope with so long in the saddle but hey, I've been through worse!
All costs are being met by myself, so every pound raised will go directly to The Christie Charity to help others who find themselves sat in front of a doctor being told they have cancer. Whether it's curable, treatable or manageable everyone wants the best care possible. And that's what fundraising for them helps achieve.
Your support is very much appreciated - thank you.
