Story
My beautiful sister, Nicola Saunders, passed away last week aged just 25.
She was only diagnosed with cancer the month before. Her last days were spent at The Hospice of St Francis. It was here that she was taken care of and helped the most. The people here, not only the doctors and nurses, but also the volunteers, made her last few days as comfortable as possible. She was able to fall asleep without any pain and in as much comfort as possible, surrounded by the love of our whole family. Our whole family camped out at the hospice for the whole time she was there. We were fed, given somewhere to sleep and offered lots of support. It's thanks to places like this that Nic was able to fall asleep in the arms of her partner and surrounded by us all.
They are still helping us now, support and counselling has been offered to all of us.
Nic was the strongest person I have ever known, she leaves behind 2 beautiful children. I hope we can show them that their mum was loved by many and that we can help other people to have the time that nic did; surrounded by love when it matters most.
The Hospice of St Francis is a wonderful charity that help so many people but they can only continue this work with the help of fundraising.
Nic truly was an inspiration. Please be inspired to help us.
