Story

Thanks to all of you for the amazing support.

I managed it in 7 hours and 40 minutes, the swim was by far the worst and after that I knew I couldn't give up. Tremendous donations for Richmonds Hope Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In a mad moment in December I signed up when my darling husband told me now was my chance to enter a triathlon as, for the first time, the Iron Man was coming to Edinburgh, so what better opportunity?

On the day I have to swim 1.2 miles in the sea, then cycle 56 miles through Lammermuir hills and into Edinburgh and Arthur's seat and then run a half marathon around a loop at Arthur's seat.

I can't lie, training has been hard, especially in 'lovely' Scottish weather. I 'learnt' to cycle , with a number of early falls as I failed to remove my feet out of cleats in time :( I learnt to run distance, 5km was the starting point, working towards the 21km on the day. More recently as the weather has improved I have done a couple of sea swims, this by far is the most unpleasant part.

I have kept quiet to date about this event in case I was injured,            (# chickened out!) With just over a week to go and with a 75-80% chance in my head I can complete this, I now feel that it is time to give myself some more pressure to get across the finish line and some sponsorship would be great to push me on .

As this is the inaugural Iron Man event in Edinburgh I thought a local charity, where a little means a lot, would be ideal to support. Bereavement is hard for us all, and we all have to face it at some point, but I feel it can be life changing for children and they need so much support. Richmond's Hope is a small team that work hard to make a difference to bereaved children by supporting them through their grief in a practical way. www.richmondshope.org.uk

If anyone is around Arthur's seat from lunctime onwards on Sunday it would be great to see/hear you. Thanks so much for any support.
