Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2015, I will be one of 250 people heading to the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles as part of the volunteer team from Special Olympics Ireland! :)

Before I jet off, I've promised to raise £3,800 to cover travel and accommodation expenses as well as assisting Special Olympics Ireland in achieving their goal of ensuring every person with an intellectual disability is given the opportunity to participate in a sport/development activity in their local community.

Having just graduated from university, I wanted to set myself a challenge this summer and decided to get involved in the upcoming World Games.  I've volunteered with the Special Olympics Ireland Healthy Athlete Team at the Bocce finals last summer, using my Podiatry degree to assess and advise athletes on their foot health - so this summer I'm ready to try something even bigger and more challenging!!

Over the next few months I plan to organise a number of fundraising activities but would appreciate any donations, however small, to help me reach my target!

I promise to keep you all up to date on my adventure! :)

About the charity

Special Olympics is a sport organisation for people with an intellectual disability, currently supporting nearly 8,000 athletes across Ireland, who are training for much more than the physical benefits that come from sport, but the emotional and social development that come from being part of S.O.I.
