Story
On the evening of Friday 25 November 2022, I will be one of twelve contestants in Strictly Shropshire 2022, competing for the glitter ball at the Lion Quays Hotel & Spa Resort, Oswestry and raising lots of money for the amazing local children’s hospices, Hope House & Ty Gobaith.
The thought of actually stepping out onto the dance floor as a ballroom dance novice in front of a large audience fills me with complete dread but as daunting as it will be, the charity needs millions each year to support all the children and their families who desperately need help to care for their terminally ill child or the death of their child. A good friend is a fundraiser for Hope House and I know just how hard she and her colleagues work to raise this much needed funding.
Life is far too short so why not put myself out there, take on a challenge to learn something new and have a go at something completely out of my comfort zone! I’m always telling my young daughter that if you put your mind to something, you can learn, do and achieve anything so I think it's time to practise what I preach! I can’t imagine life without her and that’s what these families who need Hope House face, the loss of their child. The main thing is to raise lots of money for this amazing children’s hospice through this Strictly event with the aim being a total of at least £10,000.
My weekly Strictly training begins the first week of October for two months through to the event at the end of November. I have been allocated a professional dance partner, Cameron and I’ll be learning the quickstep (arrgh!). It’s also a Movie Themed Strictly but I won’t give away just yet what the soundtrack is or what I’ll be dressed up as…….have to keep some element of surprise! I’ll keep you all updated as to how training is going with some photos and maybe a few sneaky videos along the way too!
Tickets are on sale via the Eventbrite website where you can search for Strictly Shropshire 2022.
